DES MOINES — Moravia's Briar Cochran and Dylan Conley have clinched the right to stand on the podium Saturday night.

Cochran lost his first match of the day in the quarterfinal round. Underwood's Taylor Curtis pinned Cochran in 1:16.

In round two of consolation matches, Cochran picked up a 17-2 technical fall over Jesup's Colton Dietrick. The win means Cochran will at least podium at the state meet at the freshman.

Conley was pinned in 52 seconds by Guthrie Center's Dillon Suhr. He won by injury default in two minutes over Durant's Drew George to secure the guaranteed podium.

Both Cochran and Conley will compete in the Class 1-A third round consolation matches later Friday. The session starts at 2:30 p.m. with Class 2-A quarterfinals. After Class 2-A is wrapped up, Class 1-A semifinals will begin followed by the class 1-A third round consolation matches.

A win would put the wrestlers in action for the last time in the Saturday morning session, which starts at 10 a.m.
